Eva Mengelkoch, fortepiano

Pianist Eva Mengelkoch has performed extensively in chamber music ensembles, solo recitals, and as an accompanist on modern piano and fortepiano in North America, Central America, India, and throughout western and central Europe.  The venues she has performed at include Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields in London, the Mendelssohn-Haus in Leipzig, the Tata-Theatre in Bombay, the Liszt-Academy in Budapest, the Teatro Nacional in Managua, Chicago’s Cultural Center, and the Bayreuther Klavierfestival. Eva has recorded for the Beoton and Centaur labels. Her latest CD features sonatas by Joseph Haydn performed on fortepiano and modern piano; it is included in the Naxos Music Library and has been broadcast on public radio stations in the United States, Canada and Europe. Early Music America describes her artistry as “formidable on both instruments, technically brilliant and distinctive.” Ms. Mengelkoch studied with British pianist Michael Roll at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, and received her graduate degrees at Indiana University as a student of Leonard Hokanson (piano) and Elisabeth Wright (fortepiano and harpsichord). She is a recipient of a 2008 Performing Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council.  She is a piano professor at Towson University in Baltimore where she also serves as the coordinator of the keyboard division. She founded and serves as the artistic director of the Cylburn Chamber Music Series in Baltimore.
